EVENTS ARCHIVE
Throughout 2025, we hosted 13 major events. Here are some of our favourites.
Professional

Our Careers Night is our flagship annual professional event. A wide range of private firms and government agencies are invited to present their work and advertise themselves to an eager audience of prospective graduates. In turn, our members can learn more about what their future career pathways might look like, get to mingle and network with industry professionals, and learn how, where, and when to apply for internships and graduate roles.
As part of our O-week campaign, we collaborated with the School of Economics and Public Policy to moderate a 'Meet The Economists' careers panel geared toward incoming students. The panel featured University of Adelaide Economics program alumni in various stages of their careers, who engaged in discussions regarding their work and professional pathways
The AUESS has a strong relationship with the University faculty, and we often collaborate to run educational events such as degree information sessions.
In 2025, we again collaborated with the Society of Quantitative Analysis and Data to run our popular Morgan Stanley and UBS AmplifyME Finance Accelerator Simulation session, where students were able to gain practical experience as an investment banker and asset manager in a simulated scenario.
Towards the end of each semester, we also ran our Exam Cram Study Sessions, where students in the earlier years of the program were able to band together in study groups and benefit from the advice of fellow students further along in their degrees.
Educational

Social

Our social events are always a highlight of the academic calendar, often having the highest turnouts overall as well as the highest turnouts of students in degrees adjacent to Economics.
In May, we were pleased to once again join with the Politics and International Relations Association in hosting our annual Budget Night Bingo at the Crown & Sceptre Hotel.
Per usual, we also opened each semester with our Welcome Drinks at the UniBar - with free food and drinks provided, it's always a delight get to mingle with friends, new and old!
2025 saw us engage in a new inter-society collaboration, too - we joined forces with the Adelaide University Film Society, who hosted us in Union Cinema for a screening of The Big Short, one of the definitive films depicting the 2008 Global Financial Crisis.
Last but not least, our annual Wine Tour was once again a hit! This year, we headed up to the Adelaide Hills, stopping through 3 scenic wineries in what was a truly delightful end-of-year celebration.
